In my experience, the most vivid scenes I've witnessed occur just before a storm. The contrast of grey clouds against the landscape somehow enhances its colors. This phenomenon is what I've attempted to capture in this piece. The composition draws the viewer's eye into the valley between the mountains, leading to a distant horizon that suggests depth and space. The bold and expressive brushwork contributes to the overall dramatic effect of this natural scene. The detailed textures in the prominent rocky formations, painted in shades of brown, yellow, and purple, add a sense of realism to the painting. The lush green valley with trees and vegetation provides a refreshing contrast to the ruggedness of the mountains. The gray sky clashes with the feverish rocks, giving the impression that the domes are scolding.
