Description
This painting primarily captures the interplay of shadows over a Texas grassland, creating a striking contrast between light and dark just as the sun sets over the plain. The grass, symbolizing confusion and indecision, is portrayed through the juxtaposition of shadows and sun-kissed straw. In the foreground, a golden wheat field is brought to life with vertical brush strokes, creating a sense of texture and movement. The illusion of grass swaying is achieved through swift brush strokes interspersed with sporadic palette knife blotches. On the horizon line, trees with lush green foliage serve as a boundary between the sky and the wheat field. The sky, painted in swirling patterns of various shades of blue, white, and yellow, is reminiscent of the relief felt when surfacing for air after a deep dive, symbolizing a desperate urge to escape. This artwork was created with a singular intention - to express the need for space following a suffocating experience.
