In "Rustic Sierra Mesa," I aimed to capture the raw beauty of this desert landscape. The rugged cliffs stand boldly against the expansive canvas, drawing the viewer's eye along their diagonal lines-from the foreground to the distant mountains. The warm oranges, deep reds, and earthy browns evoke the intense sunlight and arid environment of Big Bend, while the cool blues and purples in the distant peaks provide a pleasing contrast. Using oil pastels, I layered rich, textured strokes to convey the rough texture of the cliffs and the softness of the sky. Bold strokes and expressive lines capture the ruggedness of the landscape, allowing the viewer to immerse themselves in the untamed beauty of Big Bend.
